Open to current financial members of the Aquarium Society of Victoria (ASOV) only.
Committee members may enter; however, they must not participate in any dispute resolution relating to their own entry.

Each financial member may submit:
- One (1) image in the Fish/Shrimp category, and
- One (1) image in the Plants category
Maximum: Two (2) images per member per month (one per category).

Category 1 – Fish / Shrimp
Freshwater tropical fish or freshwater shrimp as the primary subject.

Category 2 – Plants
Aquatic plants or planted aquascapes as the primary subject.

Marine entries are not eligible unless specifically announced.

Images must be the original work of the submitting member.
The photograph must be taken by the member.
Images must depict livestock or plants owned or maintained by the member.
Images must be submitted before the published monthly deadline.
Images must be supplied in digital format (JPEG/PNG, minimum resolution to be advised).

A minimum of five (5) total eligible images must be submitted in a given month for voting to proceed at that month’s meeting.
If fewer than five entries are received:
- Entries will accrue to the following month(s) until a minimum of five (5) eligible images is reached.
- Once five entries are accumulated, voting will occur at the next scheduled monthly meeting.

Winners will be determined by a member vote at the monthly ASOV meeting.
Each attending financial member is entitled to one vote per category.
In the event of a tie, the Chairperson will determine the winner by casting vote.

To maintain fairness and authenticity:

AI-generated images (in whole or in part)
AI-assisted image creation or compositing
Adding, removing, replacing, or altering fish, shrimp, plants, or background elements
Digital compositing or merging multiple images
Background replacement
Significant alteration of colours to misrepresent livestock or plants
Use of stock images
Images taken by another person

If requested, entrants must be able to supply the original RAW or unedited file.

By submitting an image, the member confirms:

Any breach may result in:

Disqualification for that month.
For serious or repeated breaches, suspension from the competition for the remainder of 2026.

The Committee reserves the right to refuse any entry deemed inappropriate or inconsistent with ASOV values.
The Committee’s decision on eligibility and rule interpretation is final.

Monthly winners progress toward the 2026 End-of-Year Prize (details to be announced, including the $500 major prize).
