With our AGM just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to learn more about how your society is managed—and how you can get involved! Every role on the committee is vital to the success of the club, and we’d love you to consider nominating for a position.
The Aquarium Society of Victoria (ASOV) Committee
The ASOV Committee is made up of four Officer positions and four Ordinary Members. Together, we meet once a month (via Microsoft Teams) to guide the society’s direction, plan events, manage finances, and keep members engaged. Committee members also take on extra responsibilities such as IT support, social media, or event coordination, ensuring the smooth running and growth of the society.
Officer Positions
President
The President is the leader of the society—chairing meetings, representing the club publicly, and steering us towards our goals. They set the tone for an inclusive, welcoming culture while working with the team to keep ASOV thriving.
Vice President
Supporting the President, the Vice President steps in when required, takes on special projects, and helps oversee activities. It’s a role that balances leadership with hands-on involvement.
Secretary
The Secretary is the club’s record-keeper and communicator. From minutes and membership records to correspondence and event coordination, they help keep everything organised and running smoothly.
Treasurer
The Treasurer safeguards the club’s finances—preparing budgets, tracking spending, and reporting to members. It’s a crucial role in ensuring ASOV’s financial health and stability.
Ordinary Committee Members
Ordinary members are the backbone of the committee. They contribute ideas, support events, and take on projects that strengthen the society. Whether it’s planning a meeting, assisting with social media, or helping shape future initiatives, Ordinary Members ensure the committee stays connected to the wider membership.
Why Get Involved?
Being part of the committee is your chance to give back to the hobby you love, connect with fellow enthusiasts, and help shape the future of ASOV. It’s rewarding, collaborative, and a fantastic way to build the club experience for everyone.
📌 Nominations are now open! (Nominations Close 21 November 2025)
